Start with a regional breed club or a national member directory. Our location filter keeps nationwide referral resources available, even when we don’t have a local club listed. It does not measure distance or show nearby available puppies.
Ask to see breed-appropriate health-testing results for the parents, discuss temperament and socialization, and read the contract and return policy. A good conversation goes both ways: expect questions about your home, too.
They are separate breeds with different histories and builds. Pembrokes tend to be lighter with more pointed ears; Cardigans tend to be sturdier with rounder ears. Look at the whole dog—not just the tail—and ask about the individual dog’s temperament.
Yes—breed rescue organizations can explain their adoption process and placement criteria. Dogs and ages vary; a rescue connection is not a promise that a puppy is available.
There is no single price. A breeder’s program, health testing, location and what is included can affect cost. Ask for a written breakdown and plan for ongoing veterinary care, food, training and insurance. This directory does not list puppy prices.
